PERPIGNAN AND PYRENEES VILLAGES

THE NORTH CATALONIAN PERPIGNAN WITH THE PALACE OF THE KINGS OF MALLORCA AND A TRIP TO THE MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGES OF THE PYRENEES

There are approximately 150 villages in France that are entitled to the title "Les Plus Beaux Villages de France". You can find four of them close together in the Pyrenees west of Perpignan. An idyllic journey into the past!

You should plan the whole day for this trip.

#1 Lunch in Perpignan

HALLS

VAUBAN

In the "Les Halles" of France you can always find the pearls of enjoyment - and this one in Perpignan impresses with its design and good selection, so you can start your day out right there with a delicious lunch!

#2 Rooftop Cafe in Perpignan

GALLERIES

LAFAYETTE

From Les Halles de Vauban it is just a short walk along the River Basse to the Galeries Lafayette department store. It's worth going to the top here to get an overview of the city at a cafe.

#3 a pastis in the middle of the villagers

EUS

The journey to this beautiful place alone reveals the most wonderful views of the village. And a walk through the streets offers spectacular views of the Pyrenees. We definitely recommend a pastis in the shade of the trees under the sun on the small market square.

#4 UNESCO World Heritage from the Middle Ages

VILLEFRANCHE

This medieval village, built 1,000 years ago to defend the valley against invasion, lies at the foot of the Pic du Canigou, which you may have admired from the terrace of the Galeries Lafayette in Perpignan.

Fort Liberia offers spectacular views 734 underground steps higher up!

#5 Pure loneliness

EVOL

This picturesque village is as idyllic as it is quiet - the stone walls of the buildings look like something out of a fairy tale. During our visit there we met one of the few residents who showed us pictures of him starting school in the former school building at a cafe. Very inviting!

#6 another beautiful village on the way home...

CASTELNA

We haven't been here yet, but on the way back the last "Les Plus Beaux Village" of the trip is in a wonderful location.
